STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES

April 10, 2002 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Crosby Multipurpose Room

Members Present: Bill Kostelec, Janice Resch, Keith Gauthier, Theresa Castillo, Brett Hendricks, Kim Gieber, Krystal Burns, Neva Bishop, Anne Thomas and Lisa Smythe-Rodino from the Compensation Committee

Members Absent: Barbara Kolbet and Molly Spilker

The meeting called to order by President Bill Kostelec at 12:09

Business

Bill and Keith met with Mike Casey and Steve Doolittle.  Here is a report of that meeting.  The list of morale boosting suggestions will move forward.  HR is currently working toward mandatory supervisor/manager training.  They are looking at all possible avenues of training.  The cabinet is reviewing all the ideas on April 17.  Mike Casey will let us know which ideas the Cabinet embraces.  He told us that he is anticipating that all the ideas will be possible with the exception of an additional day off awarded on each employee’s anniversary date.  He really favored the idea of a GU community get together – staff, faculty, administrators and our families.  From a Human Resources standpoint, it was recommended that when employees have issues, they document the problem and take it to HR.

Regents and Trustees meet next week.  Bill will call Bobbie League and Gail Jennings to make sure they can each attend the meetings that are scheduled. 

Elections update.  Many people have signed up to run for Staff Assembly elected positions.  Some of the positions are still open.  Laurie will put out another call for nomination and put a deadline of the 19th on nominations.

Scheduling of future meetings

Next Meeting will be held on April 10, 2002.

Future meetings will be held each Wednesday in Crosby Large Conference Room from 12:00 – 1:00.  Since this is the lunch hour, please feel free to bring your lunch.  All SAEC members will be notified if there is a change to this recurring meeting.

By virtue of the bylaws, all Staff Assembly meetings are open unless otherwise designated by the Executive Council.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
