STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES

October 18, 2000      9:00 a.m.       Crosby Large Conference Room

Members Present:              Scott Murray, Cathy Perry, Janice Resch,  Barbara Kolbet, Brett Hendricks, Bill Kostelec

Members Absent:                Molly Spilker, Sheri Butterfield, Keith Gauthier

1.                   Call to Order

Scott Murray called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

2.                   Committee  Reports

a.  Review of Committee Reports

Reports from the committees were reviewed by the members to pinpoint what areas need assistance and where we can assist.

b.  Community Service/Outreach Committee

The Community Service/Outreach representative gave her report. Suggestion was made in the past to encourage staff  to volunteer in the community.  Discussion centered on the possibility of having a paid half day available to staff members who wish to volunteer their time for a worthy cause. We will look into this possibility further. We also discussed looking into the possibility of a staff donation to a local charity or non-profit group.

c.  Promotion Committee

The promotion committee is looking into ideas/ways to promote the staff assembly and generate interest in the functions that we plan throughout the year.

d.  Summary of September Trustee Meeting

Scott gave a report from the trustee meeting. Updates included information about the North Sharp apartments, the increasing in the endowment, the freshmen class enrollment, technology and fiscal audits.

e.   Election

Ballots were mailed to staff to fill the vacancies in the Executive Council.

f.    Webpage

The Staff Assembly website is up and running. The address is http://www.soe.gonzaga.edu/staffassembly.  The approved minutes will be posted on the site.

3.             New Business

a.     Open Forum

Executive committee members will invite interested staff members to come to our next meeting and present ideas/suggestions for future discussion/events.

4.                    Next Meeting

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 1, 2000  - 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
