STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES

December 20, 1999

 JOB CLASSIFICATIONS AND PAY INCREASES:

The issues of job classifications and pay increases were discussed. It was addressed that Rosemarie and Scott will ask Steve Doolittle what mechanism is in place at Gonzaga that evaluates staff job classifications and salary scales.

WORKING ON HOLIDAYS:

It was discussed that there are departments that are open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  These departments should work with the staff to have rotating holidays off in order to be fair to all employees.

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY:

Steve Doolittle contacted Rosemarie to inform the Staff Assembly that there is now an issue regarding the Labor Day holiday change that was thought to be resolved. A solution could possibly be for individual departments to give the staff the option of taking off Labor Day or the university’s designated Labor Day.  This issue will be discussed further with the HR Department.

COMPENSATION COMMITTEE SURVEY:

Bobbie distributed a copy of the Gonzaga University Staff Assembly Compensation Committee, Compensation Survey, Fall 1999 handout to the members present. This survey will be sent out to all staff.  After the surveys are returned, the data will be collected and the original surveys destroyed. The responses will be forwarded to Harry Sladich as well as the HR Department for their review.  In January the results of the survey will be reported to staff.
