STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MINUTES

December 2, 1999

PROPOSED CONFLICT RESOLUTION POLICY AND PROCEDURES:

Scott distributed a handout on the Proposed Conflict Resolution Policy and Procedures for the Staff Advocates to all members in attendance.  He also referred to The Loyola Law School Certificate for Conflict Resolution; Scott will forward a copy of this document to Steve Doolittle.

Referring to Conflict Resolution and Advocate issues:

Setting time limits on the advocates to serve in this capacity.

It was suggested that a three-year term would be reasonable.  Advocates would serve during their two-year term in office as well as an additional year on a voluntary basis, due to the time dedicated to training that is involved.

Possibly add an evaluation component to the policy and procedure process.

Does the HR department want to be informed when the initial conflict is addressed?

The stages need to be specific.

The draft of the Proposed Conflict Resolution Policy and Procedures for the Staff Advocates will be forwarded to the HR Department for their review.
