Staff Assembly Executive Council Minutes

February 2, 2011

Road to Utopia Conference Room, Crosby

Present: Angela Ruff, Rodolfo Pagsanjan, Norm Leatha, Alisha West, Connie Hickman, Wendy Thompson, William Gibson, Carol Huston, Kim Gieber, Laurie Hitchcock

Guests:   Steve Allen, Compensation Committee; Cathy Dieter, Regent Representative

Call to Order: 11:00 a.m. by Angela Ruff, SAEC President

Treasurer Report: None requested at this time

Angela gave a brief demonstration on how to create, post and converse on blackboard.

Council-Committee Relations:

To facilitate communication between Council and our Committees the following has been established:

$ Council now meeting twice a month;

$ Committee rotation to meet with Council and report what is being done;

Suggestions to enhance communication between the Council and committee members include assigning a Council liaison to each committee and asking committee members to share meeting notes. 

ACTION: If you have additional comments or suggestions, please email Angela.

 Heads Up - Gonzaga:

$ Committee to be formed for planning purposes;

$ Time-Frame: usually held between February - April.

ACTION: If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Angela.

Regent Representative Update:

$ Cathy Dieter spoke in regard to her experiences, responsibilities and the necessary skills in being a Regent Representative.

$ Discussion ensued regarding clarification of certain issues and the expansion of our expectations and responsibilities for this position. 

$ Formal written report by the Executive Council presented at each meeting

 to inform the Trustees/Regents of staff issues, concerns and the work that is being

 accomplished by Staff.
