SAEC Meeting 2/9/2010

Present:  Bill, Toni, Marcia, William, Roldolfo, Eric, Roberta, Connie

Minutes:  From 1/26 meeting, Approved with changes.

  1. Mission Award:  Team?  Angela, Karen, Eric, William
  • Roberta:  Suggests Award be changed?  $100 is taxed. 
    • Two $50 gift cards
    • Motion made to change to $75.00.  Keep everything else the same.  Passed.
  1. Toni:  Ticket Distribution, too early, affects productivity that day.  Could we have distribution on a Sunday afternoon - or a time that does not affect work?  Might be time to revisit and see if there is a way to do it differently. A time when day care would be available?  Grad assistants and Adjuncts are also allowed to get tickets. Ad Hoc committee; Marcia, Toni, Karen.  Invite some staff members who regularly stand in line.....look into the situation, bring recommendations.
  1. Bill:  Winter break committee meeting.  Bill and Marcia on the committee.  Met yesterday.  We want to submit through the council a simple and straightforward proposal. 

            A/B schedule.  Every employee given a full week off either Christmas week or New Years week, 5 days off.  Offices remain open with half-staff.  One holiday and 4 days - Monday through Friday.  Let admin work out details.  Eliminate as many of the questions as possible ahead of time.  As part of proposal emphasize mission and family - renewal. 

  • Angela:  Resubmit with all the info we have.  Some will be interested in the financial impact - funded days off.  Since we have the data.
    • Part of the data is problematic.  Numbers on energy savings.  Other parts are very valid and helpful - data on other models/Jesuit institutions.
    • Go to individual VP's?
  • Ice Cream social tomorrow, Thayne February 22 meeting next week.  Survey, both Survey monkey and paper.  Are you in favor of winter break?  Yes or no.  Very simple.  Start the process.  Revisit at next meeting.
  1. Do we need to form an Exploratory committee to do something while we are waiting on answers regarding Peer Advisors, to address concerns regarding conflict resolution for staff.  In some form we need something in place to insure mission oriented fair conclusion to conflict and intimidation.  Peer Advisor Status committee formed.

 

  1. All Staff Meeting with Thayne - February 22. 8:45 - 10:15

            Hosted by council.  Interaction with council members.

Can offices be closed?  Bill will make formal request to Mike Herzog.

Promote it hard. 

Will we forgo a HUG meeting for this?
