SAEC Meeting

January 26, 2010

Present:  Angela, Toni, Rodolfo, William, Tim, Roberta, Connie, Bill, Karen, Ann, Eric, Krystal

Approve Minutes:

            December 8 & January 5 - as amended,  Ann/first,  Angela 2nd passed

January 12  Send to Mike Herzog and ask his opinion, suggestions for any changes before we publish

Agenda:

  • Donation for Haiti. Make Spring Meeting a "brown bag event".  Use money saved to support efforts in Haiti.  Last meal cost $1700+.  A demonstration of support for the mission of the University, symbolic statement by all staff who would come and bring the lunch.  Bill contacted Fr. Hess; transfer would go to Catholic Relief Services.  Roberta proposed $1000.  In honor of Molly Hightower?  Make sure the Spring meeting is in this budget year. Craig Hightower as featured speaker?
    • Tim's concerns:  He doesn't think we will get the attendance.
    • William:  Morning thing with Juice and coffee.  Better than a lunch time.
    • Angela:  Knights of Columbus? save money that way
    • Globe Room:  Accommodates 300, with no tables it will accommodate more.
    • Connie made the motion.  Roberta second. Passed.  $
    • Set up team to refine details of the meeting
  • Suspension of Peer Advisor Program. 
    • William, Marcia and Angela are meeting with Mike Herzog about this tomorrow. 
    • Client/advisor relationships have been canceled. 
    • Can they continue current cases?
    • We don't know what HR concerns are, referring to Joan's email. 
    • Adhoc group to look at the issue? 
      • Current best practices
      • Other Jesuit institutions
      • Training
    • Response letter from SAEC stating
      • Important group
      • Needs to be continued
      • Good time to suggest same process as Faculty?
    • Important to Make sure due process is followed.

    • Marcia:  In the past representatives from SAEC have worked with HR on personnel policy manual updates;  for instance Karen Franks-Harding and Janice Resch;  an actual ad hoc committee Thayne asked us to appoint
    • All policies do not come from HR
