Meeting called to Order: 1:36pm
Present: Bertholf, Marcia; Gibson, William; Kostelec, William; Wilkinson, Jill.
Absent: Franks-Harding, Karen; Gieber, Kimberly; Hickman, Connie; Pagsanjan, Rodolfo; Price, Ann; Tobin, Michael; Woodard, Timothy
Quorum: 20% of the council is 4 people, so we have a quorum.
Minutes Approval
Angela distributed minutes from the 11/11/08 meeting. Jill asked about what clarification was made to the minutes, Angela explained verifying the people who moved and seconded motions. Jill moved, Bill seconded, motion carried.Budget Report
Jill no significant changes since the last report.
Fall Open Meeting Success
William acknowledged the good attendance, Dr. Hickman’s presentation, and Bill’s comments. Several from the community have made positive comments about the event. Angela shared information on behalf of Ann Price that for future event committees, the council should be clear about expectations and the program decision process in order for the work to be more efficient.
Cares Initiative Update
William will request Mike bring an update to the next council meeting in order to be prepared for the meeting with Fr. Spitzer in mid-December. Bill asked if there are stats available as to how many staff use their community service hours, and in what ways, out of curiosity. Ideas for how to use the hours are available from CCASL, so ensuring they have the contact information is important.
Committee Goals Review
The council received goals from the Security, Budget, Compensation, Community Outreach committees, and one of the Regent representative (Dale Goodwin). William expressed gratefulness that the committees are listing goals and working on them. Members discussed the importance of having the committees at the council meetings. Angela will schedule them for future sessions. We are awaiting goals from the Community Service committee, as well as the representatives for Space, Safety, and one Regent (Janelle Axtell). We also need something from the special university committee representatives, such as: Performance Management Work Group, Climate Survey, Diversity, and Sustainability.
Heads Up Gonzaga Subcommittee
Marcia seeking additional committee members and exploring topic ideas.
Fr. Spitzer Meeting Preparation
William and Bill will meet with Fr. Spitzer in mid-December, and are deciding the list of topics to discuss.
