Modifications include adding taping Raymond to the Spring Open Meeting section and including the potential impacts of crew drivers and shift changes for the early staff social section. Marcia motioned for approval, Tim seconded, and the group unanimously approved.
Budget Status
Jill shared an update on the council budget showing a current balances of about $6,800. She asked for clarification on the Survey Monkey account needs given the expense. Angela suggested a department already paying for an account may be a source for utilizing, and Marcia suggested Student Voice as a resource. Funding for Heads Up Gonzaga was also discussed, and the group agreed the Council should fund this year rather than Fr. Spitzer's office due to the positive balance in the budget. Marcia will convey this news to Fr. Spitzer. Special recognition of Fr. Spitzer is being organized for the Heads Up event, and that will be funded by Staff Assembly.
Spring Open Meeting
Jill presented a drafted budget for the event and the group discussed the drafted program as well. Connie Hickman will verify presenters of the Mission Awards. A full breakfast will be available for attendees. The group discussed appropriate recognition of council and committee volunteers as being inexpensive and consistent. The group also discussed ways to recognize the accomplishments of committees and the faces of people involved or becoming involved. Tim will connect with Kim Gieber, chair of this subcommittee, to share ideas.
Regent Position Opening
Dale Goodwin's position is becoming available this summer. Krystal included a notice on how to apply with the nomination document sent to all employees. Application materials are on the website. A staff member can be a Regent representative for two terms. The Council recommends applicants, and the president makes the final choice.
Council Representative Position Opening
Mike Tobin regretfully resigns from his post as a council representative. William suggested the council assign a representative to complete Mike's term.
Staff Socials Review
Krystal reported that the new design for staff socials is probably getting to people we normally didn't see at the events in the Crosby lower level, but the attendance is lower than hoped (from 8-12 people at each in October, November, and February). Promotion activities were discussed. Tim will assist in posting flyers for the April event. Council members were encouraged to come and bring someone. The impact of the plant attendance policy was discussed, and the potential for shift time changes (ie, different lunch or break periods) potentially limiting attendance for those employees. Program format is typically a brief review of current council activities for the afternoon sessions (2nd Wed, 2pm). The late socials (2nd Wed, 8:10pm) are also update-oriented, but sometimes focus on just one topic given they are just 20 minutes. The early socials (2nd Thurs, 7:10am), also 20 minutes, are becoming more active with questions relating to HR education and relationship areas. Marcia will invite Gretchen to participate in the next early social to help address the questions.
