Staff Assembly Meeting Minutes

February 21, 2007

Members present:  Abe, Krystal, Ann-Scott, Georgia, Brady, Jill, William, Marcia, Tricia, Mary Beth, Tim, Rick, Connie

Discussion regarding:

  1. Brown Bag sessions

·        Shelly has had challenges trying to get everyone (those in charge of a mission area, i.e. Fr. Ganz, Fr. Lee, Raymond Reyes, Joe Albert, Sima Thorpe, Mike Stebbins) together for a meeting to discuss these sessions but one has finally been arranged for February 26 at 10:00 a.m.

·        The Brown Bag Discussion Group met and agreed that these sessions should include:

a.      Topics that are linked to work

b.      Time for open discussion

c.      Meetings should be held at various times of the day to maximized attendance

d.      Need a name other than “Brown Bag” sessions

·        Most agreed that the name should include the terms Conversation and Mission.  Further discussion will be held by the next meeting to come to a final decision on the name.

  1. Heads Up Gonzaga University

·        Krystal reported that at a meeting last week they began finalizing details for this year’s HUG

a.      Date is March 29 from 8:00 – 1:00

b.      Will include light breakfast and lunch

c.      The proposed topic this year is to make HUG a kick off for the “brown bag sessions” (new name forthcoming) on the 5 mission areas.

                                                                          i.      Might highlight 2 or 3 of those areas

                                                                        ii.      Mission awards will be given out at HUG

                                                                      iii.      Break out and do small groups?

                                                                       iv.      All of this is still in the discussion stage

  1. Staff Awards in Support of Mission

·        Mary Beth brought a nomination form for final revisions.

a.      Final revisions were discussed and nomination form was voted on and accepted

b.      Discussed ways it would be disseminated such as Staff-l, website, mailings, RA’s, GSBA, Spirit, Plant Manager’s meetings (Rick), Faculty Assembly

·        Mary Beth will put together a promotion flyer to attach to the form.

  1. Change in Staff Compensation

·        Marcia Berthoff reported that she and Robin Guevara, as members of the Budget Committee, have attended budget meetings to learn/discuss the fact that there may be changed in salary caps for staff to save on budget.  If this happens, the three and five year increases in pay will not be honored.       

  1. Staff Assembly CARES document – Jill will send out a hard-copy this week to everyone for final approval
