Discussion Regarding Staff Award for Outstanding Service in Support of Mission
Abe chaired the meeting and explained that we were there to discuss criteria for the award. What are the qualities that nominees for the award should exhibit?
Fr. Lee suggested:
- Nominees should be people who are carrying out their own job description in support of mission
- Nominees should be people who really care for a person – who go a little further in serving their co-workers, students, and others
- Nominees should go above and beyond.
- Staff Assembly should be careful to find ways to include everyone, especially the night staff and people who work alone.
Criteria should also include community service.
Nomination Form:
- Criteria needs to be hammered out. Mary Beth is going to put our ideas together in a document and distribute it for comments, revision, etc.
- Distribution needs to be thorough; lots of coverage
- Email (Staff-l)
- Regular Campus mail
- Bulletin boards
- Contacts in every building
- Spirit
- Bulletin/See if we can get a staff writer to do an article
- Ben Folger - GSBA
- Faculty (Fr. Lee)
- Email (Staff-l)
5 Areas of Mission were reviewed:
- Faith
- Leadership
- Justice
- Service
- Ethics
Staff Assembly Executive Committee constitutes the review committee (with Fr. Lee).
We need a list of about 5 standard questions that we use to follow up on the nominees. Nominations forms must have the nominator’s name for the purpose of follow-up. Is it ok/Should be contact the supervisor? Should we let the person who has been nominated know that?
At the next meeting we should talk about HUGS and the nomination form.
