Staff AssemblyExecutive Council Meeting
December 7,2005
Members Present: Shelly Daugherty, Marcia Bertholf, Krystal Burns, Mary BethCharleboix, Karen Franks-Harding, Rick Smith, Kelly Earnest, BradyNielsen, Angela Ruff and Connie Hickman
Agenda Topics Discussed:
- Trevor Werttemberger, President of Staff Assembly is no longer withthe university. In adiscussion on how best to replace Trevor, SA members decided thebest course of action was for Shelly, the SA Vice-President toassume the role of President early, making her term as president 18months instead of one year. Regarding the vacant VicePresident position, nominations will betaken from SAEC members, since they have been involved from thebeginning which will make for an easier transition. If, afterthe 6 months they want to continue, then their name will be put onthe ballot with others who have been nominated for that positionduring the nomination/election process in thespring.
- Continuing discussion on Pay for Performance. Thayne McCulloh is puttingtogether a committee to study and discuss this subject. SA would like to see amember from the Compensation Committee be on that committee. A meeting is being held onthe 16th with Thayne to discuss this matter.
- Heads Up Gonzaga. Marcia pointed out perhaps Fr. Lee and Fr. Ganz could be invited tomake a presentation regarding the University Mission which has beena popular subject mentioned on staff surveys. We will take the subject upagain at our January 4 meeting when more information isavailable. Related tothat subject, Rick Smith pointed out that Spring Break is a busytime for people in Plant Services. Kelly mentioned it isalso a busy time for ITSS.
- Regarding the ongoing discussion about better communication it waspointed out that often the staff lists in university communicationsystems is not current (i.e. the staff-l list). We would like to see thisimproved. Maybe thereare ways SA can help in this process.
