Staff Assembly Executive CouncilMinutes

1898 Room 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Members Present:Krystal Burns, Kim Gieber, Karen Franks-Harding, Linda Sue McClure,Brady Nielson, Angela Ruff, Kathy Sherrick Erin Shields, TrevorWerttemberger.
Called to order at 12:05 p.m. by President Krystal Burns
The Staff AssemblyWebpage: Krystal explains plans to revamp the webpage, makingit more user friendly and inviting. The goal is to make the websitea one-step shop for employee related resources. The website willfeature the following:
· Biographies from all council members.
· Individual photos as well as a group photo.
· A listing of the By Laws.
· A list of the projects we are working on.
· A calendar of events.
Cultural AwarenessProgram: Linda Sue reports that Marcia posed the question, “isthis program something the assembly wants to contribute tofinancially?†If so,we will need to decide how much money we will contribute and wewill have to budget for this. This topic will bediscussed further at the next meeting, when Marcia is present.
Staff RegentPosition: Krystalexplains that there is an opening for a non-exempt employee to siton the board of regents in a Staff Regent position. The person must attendthree meetings a year with the Regents, and attend joint Regentmeetings. The personwill have full voting rights at regent meetings. Trevor adds that “ we needthe connection with the administration and we want honest feedback.Participating at the regent/trustee meetings is key.†KathySherrick mentions that she may be interested. Krystal suggests that weaim to get three candidates to recommend to Thayne by the Octobermeeting.
The Status of The By Lawsexamination: Trevor poses the question, “can we live with thewords of the by laws if we work to educate our constituents?†Krystal suggests thateducating our constituents on our image, what we do, and promotingour programs better may be as simple as drafting a memo stating,“these are the people we represent...†The question remains, do weneed to change the by-laws, or is it possible for us to clarifythem as they are? Krystal will meet with Thayne, Friday September10th and consultwith him regarding the current status of the by laws. This topic will then bere-discussed at our next meeting.

By virtue of the bylaws,all Staff Assembly meetings are open unless otherwise designated bythe Executive Council. Everyone is welcome to attend. Meetingsoccur every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 12PM – 1PM inthe 1898 Room of the Administration Building.
