Staff Assembly ExecutiveCouncil Minutes
April 20th,2005
1898 Conference Room 12:00 –1:00 p.m.
Members Present: Marcia Bertholf, Krystal Burns, KarenFranks-Harding, Kim Gieber, Kathy Sherrick, Erin Shields, TrevorWerttemberger, Steve Doolittle.
Called to order at 12:00 p.m. by President KrystalBurns.
Approval of the minutesfrom March 2nd and March 16thh..
Meeting with theCompensation Consultants
A) Marcia: We got across the point that the staff needs to be lookedat separately from faculty because our processes are different. Forthe most part, they seemed to be receptive.
B) Trevor: The meeting was positive in general and that Thayne is agood listener.
C) Krystal: A group is coming together on Friday to make a list of ourwants and needs.
Mission Questions for Father Lee:Things the staff needs to know in relation to the mission.
A) Trevor: It is a valuable way for us to connect with the VicePresident of Mission and very appropriate
B) Salary issues are a justice issue.
C) Next fall we will meet with Father Lee to discuss our concerns.
Employee Gifts:
As of June first, employees will receive a gift for theiranniversaries instead of bulldog bucks. Items with the GU logo,such as wallets, duffel bags, folding chairs, paper weights,watches. Bigger anniversaries are rewarded with more expensiveitems.
Elections
A) And email was sent out to everyone who was nominated to see if thenominations are accepted.
B) There are no confirmed people for the Executive Council. Spread theword to anyone who is interested.
The Role of Regents: Howthis applies to Staff Regents
A) Steve: Regents are less of a decision making group. They serve on committees,and are educated on various issues that are going on around campus.The meetings are primarily informational.
B) Krystal: How do we go about making the staff representative rolesmore effective
C) Steve: It is worth it and symbolic to have the representativepresent. An awarenessof staff roles in a good angle.
An educational piece onThe Job Evaluation Process
A) Steve: Human Resources is currently working on supervisor trainingsessions. One topic iscompensation: job descriptions and evaluations. This presentationor a variation of the presentation can be made available to theStaff Assembly and any individual department.
B) Krystal: Sometime inthe next two weeks, the SAEC will come up with topics to share withHeather, determining the focus of the presentation and what we’dlike to hear about.

By virtue of the bylaws,all Staff Assembly meetings are open unless otherwise designated bythe Executive Council. Everyone is welcome to attend. Meetingsoccur every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 12PM – 1PM inthe 1898 Room of the Administration Building.
