STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCILMINUTES

Members Present: Marcia Bertholf, Kathy Sherrick, JaneHession, Bill Kostelec, Lisa Smythe-Rodino, Lisa Meyer, Linda SueMcClure, Krystal Burns; Janice Resch.
The meeting was called toorder by President Marcia Bertholf at 12:05 p.m.
Minutes from the June 4, 2003meeting were reviewed; deletion of “Members Absent†section wasagreed upon. Minutes approved and to be posted on web.
New Business
Meeting Policies: It wasclarified by group discussion and consensus that all Wednesdaymeetings would be open to entire staff; special meetings would beheld as needed.
Exempt Position on CompensationCommittee: Nomination of Angela Ruff to date; nominations to beheld open until Friday, July 4th, 2003. Krystal handed out copies of theStaff Assembly By-Laws and these were reviewed by each member forcontent.
Community OutreachNewsletter: a sample copy of the Staff Assembly newsletter wasdistributed.
Old Business
Brown Bag Discussions:Tricia Burns was unable to attend; Marica presented topics fromwhich all members chose their top five items of interest. Ratherthan the title “Heads Up Gonzaga†it was decided that another titlemight generate more interest throughout the entire GU community;Dale Goodwin to be approached as idea resource. Notes: whenadvertising the events it should be especially noted that thetopics were generated from within the GU community. To accommodateneeds, meeting times could vary week to week. To build communityparticipation, have Dale Goodwin send out “everyone†emails asreminders. To promoteenthusiasm, participation in the seminars could count as jobdevelopment-with official recognition by certification.
University BudgetCommittee: Marcia shared concerns that she had received fromsome employees about proceedings within the University BudgetCommittee. Marcia will follow up with Chuck Murphy, and SAEC willaddress these issues as deemed appropriate after discussion at nextmeeting.
