STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCILMINUTES

Members Present: Marcia Bertholf, Kathy Sherrick, JaneHession, Bill Kostelec, Keith Gauthier, Lisa Smythe-Rodino, LisaMeyer, Linda Sue McClure, Mary Beth Charleboix, Sandra Bogdanski,Trevor Werttemberger, Krystal Burns.
Members Absent:
The meeting was called toorder by President Marcia Bertholf at 12:05 p.m. Minutes from May28, 2003 meeting were unavailable for approval.
New Business
1. The winner of the President’sLottery was announced. Janace Kjolseth won a $100 gift certificateto Clinkerdagger’s.
2. Weekly meetingannouncements including agenda will be sent out via “staff-l†emailto encourage greater staff participation. To accommodate largerturnout, bigger room will be needed such as Utopia in Crosby. LisaMeyer to contact Campus Services.
3. Website Update: Trevorpresented his idea for a revised staff assembly website to promotethe meetings and staff participation. Have photo of Marcia withcomments; position descriptions, names of office holders, briefbios; more action-oriented with updates on projects and events andreport of outcomes; section for staff online votes forsurveys.
4. Staff Assembly “In Box†inMicrosoft Outlook to be accessible by committee members-Krystal toset up.
5. Lisa Smythe-Rodinoannounced her departure from Gonzaga. This will leave a vacancy onthe Compensation Committee. Marcia will announce the vacancy at theJune open meeting and then the council will put together a ballotto vote in a new member.
Old Business
1. HUG Update: Mary Beth reported onthe meeting that she, Marcia, Bill, Lisa & Mike Casey had withFr. Spitzer to discuss the results of the HUG survey. Letter fromStaff Assembly to Fr. Spitzer distributed. Discussion ensuedregarding follow-up plans, outcomes of survey results, and idea ofBrown Bag lunches as arena to discuss topics staff are interestedin pursing in-depth.
2. Staff Survey: Data isready for entry. This data will be included as an exhibit in theAccreditation Report. Due for Thayne McCullough end of June andwill be presented at next week’s meeting.
3. Compensation Survey: dataready for input.
4. Open meeting is next weekin COG. Keith presented tentative agenda; name tags will bedistributed; menu is finalized; Trevor will share year’saccomplishments; Mike Renes from CCASL will explain how the newCommunity Service ½ day for staff will work.
5. Picnic Committee: Krystalpresented progress of Gonzaga picnic set for July 23, 2003 from4:30-8:00. Everything is proceeding smoothly. RSVP will be sent outto all employees prior.
Scheduling of FutureMeetings:
1. President MarciaBertholf will be out due to illness from July 15, 2003 – until theend of August. It wasdecided to continue to convene SAEC summer meetings on a weeklybasis. Vice presidentKrystal Burns will run the meetings.
By virtue of the bylaws, all StaffAssembly meetings are open unless otherwise designated by theExecutive Council. Everyone is welcome to attend.
