STAFF ASSEMBLY EXECUTIVE COUNCILMINUTES

The meeting was called to order by President KeithGauthier at 12:10
Old Business
Anniversary Cards: Dave would like to withdrawthe bookstore participation in the gift certificate with regards tothe producing of the gift certificates.
“And We Stayedâ€, a video: There was discussion onwhether new hires should see it….a majority of the SAEC voiced thatit would not be in the best interest of the new hire to see it whenfirst hired…perhaps after 6 months or so. There was also discussionon how to show it to staff. Thayne McCulloh suggests weshow it at the open staff meeting. The discussion after thevideo is still a concern. Keith suggested to RaymondReyes that the members of the SAEC would be willing to becomefacilitators for the discussion that needs to come from the showingof the video.
Trustee Draft – No other changes suggested but addingstaff as stakeholders.
SAEC goals for the 0203-year include working on thewages, compensation and benefits issues as shown in the lastsurvey.
New Business
Theresa Schermerhorn passed along a report via NevaBishop that the Security Council was not meeting because the chairis on sabbatical and no one else has taken up the lead. Keith will follow-up withJeff Hart in Security.
Krystal brought up New EmployeeOrientation
She feels that the SAEC needs to have our own10-minute slot to talk about. The SAEC agreed. Keith will to speak to HRregarding the issue. We need to appoint a Rep to attend the New Orientationsessions.
Neva will write a proposal to add a Treasurer to theSAEC officers and to hold an election to elect both a VicePresident and Treasurer.
It has been reported that the has been administrativeconcern that the Spirit newsletter is no longer needed. SAEC feels strongly thatthis is an important communication tool that the staff uses to keepup with what is happening in the community. SAEC will supports thecontinuation of the Spirit.
Scheduling of futuremeetings
Next Meeting will be held on October 16, 2002. Futuremeetings will be held each Wednesday in 1898 Room from 12:00 –1:00. Since this isthe lunch hour, please feel free to bring your lunch. All SAEC members will benotified if there is a change to this recurringmeeting.
By virtue ofthe bylaws, all Staff Assembly meetings are open unless otherwisedesignated by the Executive Council. Everyone is welcome toattend.
