Rosemarie will ask Linda Pierce if a member of the Faculty AssemblyExecutive Committee would like to attend the Staff AssemblyExecutive Council meetings as a liaison between the twocommittees.

STAFF ASSEMBLYEVENTS:

We need to startplanning our spring event and arrange for a speaker. It isimportant for the Staff Assembly to build annual traditions.  Suggested ideas for eventswere:

1)                 Yearly spring luncheon with guest speaker and Staff Assembly annualreport.

2)                 Annual fall event – possibly more formal at Bozarth including horsd’oeuvres, drinks, and music. (Possibly on a Friday night –including families.)

Scott will lookinto the cost for a fall event and report his findings back to thecommittee. Also, he will look into the possibility of having aSpokane historian at the fall event. Rosemarie will discuss withRaymond Reyes the possibility of speaking at the spring event.  It was recommended that thetheme of the speech revolve around the idea of community effort, involvement, volunteering, and your voice counts.

COMPENSATIONSURVEY:

The Compensation Survey, Fall 1999 has been sent out to allstaff.  The deadline tohave them returned is January 31, 2000.  Currently approximately 200surveys have been returned. Rosemarie will contract Thayne andBobbie to find out when they would be available to call a meetingof the entire Staff Assembly to give a public presentation of theresult of that survey. The Staff Assembly Executive Council needs to meet with theCompensation Committee to discuss the results of the survey priorto the presentation. Rosemarie will ask the compensation committee if they would beready to meet with the Executive Council at the next scheduledmeeting on Monday, February 7, 2000.  It was suggested that thatresults could be posted on the Staff Assembly web site after thepresentation.

SUGGESTION BOX:

Scotthas a suggestion box that he will donate to the staffassembly.  It is alarge wood box with a padlock. It was suggested that it be placedin the employee lounge beside the Foley Library book drop box.  A mechanism needs to be inplace on how to process the suggestions.  It was addressed that allsuggestions in the box be removed  prior to the next scheduledStaff Assembly Executive Council meeting and discussed at thatmeeting.  If possible,an acknowledgment will be sent out notifying the person writing thesuggestion that it has been received and it will be discussed as anagenda item at the next meeting.  When an e-mail is sent outto the staff notifying them of the suggestion box, the e-mailshould also include our e-mail address and hotline number.
