Senior (Undergraduate) Commencement
The Commencement Ceremony for Seniors (those students who will be receiving their Bachelors degree sometime during 2014) will be held on Sunday, May 11, 20143, in the Spokane Arena beginning with an academic procession at 9:35 a.m. The actual speaking part of the ceremony will begin at 10:00 am and we anticipate that the ceremony will be over at approximately 1:15 pm immediately followed by a social in the Field House of The Martin Centre. Seniors may invite as many guests as they wish to the Commencement Ceremony and tickets will not be required.
We have planned for three major events on Friday, May 9, 2014, of the Commencement weekend. The Social Justice Missioning Ceremony - honoring those Seniors who are spending the next year or two doing volunteer work - will be held at 4:00 p.m. that Friday in University Chapel on the third floor of College Hall. Guests are welcome. The ROTC Commissioning Ceremony will be held on Friday at 5:15 p.m. in St. Aloysius Church. Guests are welcome. Later that same evening, Student Life will host the Dessert Social which will be held at Bozarth Retreat Center from 7:00 to 10 p.m. All Seniors and their guests are invited. Dress for the Social Justice Missioning and the ROTC Commissioning ceremonies is business attire while dress for the Dessert Social is casual. Please note: the Dessert Social is held outside on the grass so watch the weather report and a sweater or coat might be advised.
On Saturday, May 10, all of our Seniors and their guests are invited to attend the Presidential Reception & Toast to Our Seniors in the Field House of The Martin Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a time to gather, toast our seniors and enjoy some light refreshments - dress is business attire.
Immediately following the Toast on Saturday, May 10, our Seniors and their guests are encouraged to attend the Baccalaureate Mass where we will ask for God's blessing on our Seniors and Graduate students. This Mass is for everyone of every faith tradition. You do not have to be Catholic to attend this Mass - it is for our entire Gonzaga family. The Mass will be held in the McCarthey Athletic Center at 1:30 p.m. and we anticipate that it will be over at 2:50 p.m. Students may invite as many guests as they wish and tickets are not required.
On Sunday, May 11, after the Commencement ceremony and social, the Nursing Department will hold a Pinning Ceremony for our newly graduated nurses at 3:00 p.m. in St. Aloysius Church.
