A Zag for Life
By: Joe Poss, University Relations
Although Jim Brown may not be an official alumnus of the University he certainly knows what it means to be a Zag. Since seeing his two sons graduate from Gonzaga, Fred in 1982 and Paul in 2001, Jim has become increasingly involved with the University. Most recently he established the Gonzaga Artificial Intelligence Lab (GAIL) to improve student learning opportunities for GUstudents, and potentially, students all over the world. Jim is now prepared to spend a little time in the rugged outdoors to promote his vision for student learning.
Jim and his 75-year-old brother, Tom are about to set out on a 1,000-mile journey from Tom's home near Grande Prairie, Alberta to Jim's home in Spokane, Wash. The journey will be a long one. Crossing just over 1,000 miles, Jim projects it should take them five to six weeks for the trip, which will likely start in early June. From Alberta, the pair will follow mostly secondary highways and forestry trunk roads, through Glacier National Park in Montana and over the continental divide. As Jim and Tom's journey progresses we will be updating this web site with news from the trail.
How you can support Jim and Tom's trip:
You can support Jim's ride by making a gift online to GAIL (Gonzaga Artificial Intelligence Lab).
