Summer Employment

Summer Employment

If you want Summer Work Study, you must APPLY for it.  On March 17th, Financial Aid will distribute summer financial aid applications.

WORK STUDY SUMMER EMPLOYMENT:

The Financial Aid Office determines Federal Work Study and State Work Study eligibility.  If you want work study for the summer, you must turn in a Summer Financial Aid application.  You also need to have this year's and next year's FAFSA on file to be eligible for summer work study programs.  You do not have to be enrolled in summer classes to be awarded work study, but you do need to be attending Gonzaga in the fall semester.  If you are taking classes in the summer, you will need to register prior to applying for summer financial aid. Because work study funds are limited in the summer, eligible students are awarded on a first-come first-served basis.

Summer FWS positions will not be posted on-line. A list of available FWS positions can be picked up in the Student Employment Office, College Hall, Room 126.

Summer SWS positions will be posted on-line and in the Student Employment Office, College Hall, Room 126.

2007-08 Summer Employment Dates:

Federal Work Study Summer I Session: 5/12/08-6/15/08 and Summer II Session: 6/16/08-8/31/08

State Work Study Summer I Session: 5/12/08-6/30/08 and Summer II Session: 7/1/08-8/24/08

NON WORK STUDY SUMMER EMPLOYMENT:

Student Employment has a listing of non-work study jobs in the summer that range from Spokane area businesses to summer camps to companies in other states. Additionally, you can contact temporary employment agencies which help you locate summer positions. If you live in the Spokane area we have a listing of local temporary employment agencies on our off-campus job board outside the Office of Admission.

Feel free to contact on-campus departments about their Institutional (non-work study) job openings in the summer.
