Gonzaga Ethics Institute

Gonzaga Ethics InstituteThe Gonzaga Ethics Institute was established in 2000 with a gift of $2.3 million from the Tilford family of Spokane in honor of Charles A. Tilford, a 1934 Gonzaga University alumnus and Spokane business leader. GEI's primary mission is to provide innovative, principle-based ethics resources and programs for the Gonzaga University community and for businesses, schools, non-profit organizations, professional groups, and government agencies in the Spokane area, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The activities of the Gonzaga Ethics Institute include the following:

  • Ethics across the curriculum
  • Ethics presentations, programs, and workshops for students, alumni, professional groups, businesses, and other organizations
  • Character education presentations for middle school and high school students, with Gonzaga students as trained facilitators
  • A national conference on Ethics and Social Responsibility in Engineering and Technology
  • The Business Ethics Advantage Program, an online business ethics certificate offered in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business and launched with the help of three consecutive annual grants from the Daniels Fund of Denver, CO
