Overview

Accessible documents are useful for everyone! They are more easily converted into different formats such as Braille, "reflowed" for mobile use, and transferred across devices (your formatting will appear nearly identical on any computer). Content can be more easily worked with and changed, searched through, and shared.

A document is accessible when it can be easily understood by everyone, regardless of what device or adaptive equipment he or she is using (e.g. a visual browser, screen reader, mobile device). An accessible document is created with all of the proper formatting tools available in the productivity software being used (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc), has any images appropriately tagged, and is text selectable (the text isn't a picture - you can highlight, copy, and paste).
