Alternative Testing Policy
Alternative Testing Policy
Disability Resources, Education, & Access Management
Gonzaga University
Disability Resources, Education, & Access Management (Disability Resources) will provide alternative testing arrangements for students with a documented disability that have a demonstrated need for this academic adjustment and have completed the intake process. The following procedure identifies the responsibilities of the student and DREAM.
Student Responsibilities
1. Student must discuss alternative testing arrangements, including date and time of exam, with the professor at the beginning of the semester and prior to each exam.
2. Student must abide by all University policies, including the University Academic Honesty Policy and Ethos Statement, while taking exams.
3. Student must schedule exams with DREAM at least one (1) week in advance of the exam.
4. Student must follow one of DREAM processes for scheduling exams (this will be discussed during intake of new students).
5. Students must notify DREAM as soon as possible if it is necessary to change or cancel alternative testing arrangements.
6. Students must arrive at DREAM for the scheduled exam on time. A ten minute grace period will be observed. If the student arrives at DREAM more than ten minutes late, the professor will be notified of the student's tardiness, and it is the professor's responsibility to determine the outcome.
7. Failure to comply with the appropriate procedure for scheduling an exam with DREAM twice requires a meeting with a DREAM staff member and may result in an Ethos violation.
8. Cell phones, PDA's, i-pods, and all mass storage devices must be turned off and stored outside of the testing room. Students are not allowed to make phone calls or answer phone calls while taking exams.
DREAM Responsibilities
1. DREAM will send disability compliance letters to each instructor involved, outlining the student's needs.
2. DREAM will provide alternative testing arrangements when properly scheduled by the student. DREAM will endeavor to accommodate students who provide less than one (1) week notice, but cannot guarantee space will be available.
3. DREAM staff will return the exam to the professor within 24 hours of its completion in a sealed envelope or per the directions of the professor.
