Making Teaching Visible

The 2013 Fall Faculty Conference featured Dr. Dan Bernstein, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Kansas. Dr. Bernstein led the faculty through several discussions on the process of "making teaching visible"--that is, how we articulate to one another and our students what we hope to accomplish, and how we hope to accomplish it, in our teaching. In particular, Dr. Bernstein has written extensively on the use of electronic course portfolios as tools for both facilitating reflection on what we do and how, but also making the results of that reflection public to various audiences. Dr. Bernstein provided a variety of articles and web sites as resources for faculty interested in further exploring these ideas. Links to those resources are provided in the left-hand column.

The CTA will also be organizing additional opportunities for exploration and discussion of these topics through the 2013 - 2014 academic year. Information on those opportunities will be provided through the links to the left, as the programs are developed.
