An Affinity Group is a university-recognized network of employees who share common interests, needs, and/or pursuits. Affinity Groups provide a forum for employees to gather socially and to network.
Typically, Affinity Groups focus on the needs of people who have been historically under-represented in the workplace. However, Affinity Groups are not limited to underrepresented groups.
Faculty members can put together an affinity group around almost any interest. The campus currently has an affinity group called IMPACT, Intercultural and Multicultural Professionals Affecting Change Together. Common themes for affinity groups are race, gender, parental status, and generation. However, groups also can be formed around research interests, outside service activities, or other interests.
