Early Warning System
The Early Warning System is a campus-wide retention initiative that helps us identify students in difficulty or crisis each semester. When you complete a referral form (or contact Academic Services directly), you're allowing the University to collaboratively assist students in a variety of challenging situations. Through EWS, Academic Services and our colleagues in many areas (Student Life, Residence Life, Financial Services, DREAM, the Counseling Center, University Multicultural and Ethnic Center, among others) have served more than 2300 students in crisis since EWS began in the spring of 2000. Your help and concern stand as strong testaments to Gonzaga's caring community, as we work together to retain and successfully graduate such a large percentage of students.
By completing our electronic EWS form, or calling us directly, the specific and unique needs of each student can be addressed by appropriate people throughout the University. After assessing your referral, we coordinate a response to each individual student, which may involve working directly with the student, or finding ways to put him/her in touch with other helpful resource offices on-campus.
To refer a student via EWS, please use one of the following convenient methods:
1. Click here to complete the EWS electronic referral form. When you click submit, your information is sent directly to our office via e-mail.
2. Call Academic Services at ext. 4072.
Given the volume of referrals our office manages each semester, as well as the constraints of confidentiality, please understand that we cannot always follow-up with every referring party. We always welcome your calls and e-mails to check up on the situation you referred.
Thank you, in advance, for using the Early Warning System and for your care for all Gonzaga students.
