Mathematics

The Mathematics Department offers Mathematics and Mathematics-Computer Science degrees.  Students can earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.  The Mathematics-Computer Science major is a Bachelor of Science. 

Mathematics (MATH) majors take the following MATH course in the first semester:

  • MATH 157 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I*

Mathematics-Computer Science majors take the following CPSC and MATH courses in the first semester:

  • CPSC 121 Computer Science I
  • MATH 157 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I*

*Placement into MATH 157 is evaluated by Academic Advising and Assistance and the Math Department using the student's high school transcript and standardized test scores. Students not ready for MATH 157 will start in MATH 147 (Pre-calculus).  Students with college or AP/IB credit will be placed into the appropriate level math course.  For information on Gonzaga's Advanced Standing policy for AP/IB credit, please visit the Office of Admission website.

Be sure to review the information in the 13-14 catalogue when it becomes available (the catalogue is still under review, and should be posted to the website this summer).
