Economics
Gonzaga's College of Arts & Sciences offers two degrees in Economics, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science. Students majoring in the School of Business, Business Administration major can also concentrate in Economics.
Students pursuing Economics do not have any required major courses in the first semester, but may be placed in one of the following classes based on availability:
- ECON 201 Macroeconomics
- ECON 202 Microeconomics
Economics students may take one of the following MATH courses in the first semester as well:
- MATH 112 College Algebra*
- MATH 114 Math Analysis for Business
- MATH 148 Survey of Calculus
- MATH 157 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I
MATH placement is determined by Academic Advising and Assistance and the Math Department using the student's high school transcript and standardized test scores. MATH 114, 148 and 157 fulfill the economics math requirement. Some students may be placed in Math 112 to prepare them for higher level math if they do not have adequate high school preparation. This course will count as the math/science elective for these majors in their College of Arts & Sciences core.

You will follow the 2013-14 Undergraduate Catalogue - this is your contract with the University, and vis versa. Be sure to review the information in the 13-14 catalogue when it becomes available (the catalogue is still under review, and should be posted to the website this summer). Until then, please refer to the 2012-2013 Undergraduate Catalogue, as much of the information is the same.
