Reduced Course Load
Reduced Courseload
In order to be considered full time, an undergraduate student must take 12 credits per semester. Students receiving federal financial aid and Gonzaga specific aid are required to maintain 12 credits. Due to the functional impact of disability, some students are not able to complete 12 credits per semester. The accommodation of reduced courseload allows the student to continue to receive prorated federal financial aid, as well as continue to receive aid offered by Gonzaga University while taking less than 12 credits.
Process
After reviewing relevant documentation and interviewing the student, Disability Resources staff will determine if the accommodation of reduced courseload is appropriate. If so, Disability Resources will write a letter to the Financial Aid Office supporting a reduced courseload for the student. It is the student’s responsibility to check in with the Financial Aid office to make sure all paperwork is in place, as well as keep in contact with Disability Resources and have an updated letter sent to Financial Aid each semester. The student may have to work with their insurance company to maintain insurance coverage while taking less than 12 credits.
