Freshman Registration at Gonzaga University

Welcome to Gonzaga University, class of 2016!
We are Academic Advising & Assistance (AAA), an office at Gonzaga who's mission is to support students in their pursuit for academic success. This journey begins with your acceptance and confirmation to attend Gonzaga. You've committed to us, now it's our turn, beginning with an investment into your potential as a Gonzaga student as we manage your first semester course registration.
We work with you through the summer months to create a schedule of classes that meets your educational goals, as well as the requirements needed for a Gonzaga degree. Most of your involvement will come before you've received your high school diploma. Here's how the registration process works:
- Beginning in April, AAA will begin communicating with you via e-mail and encouraging you to check messages and the Facebook App for updates and info. This is the informative stage of the registration process. We want you to use this month to explore the programs Gonzaga has to offer so when it comes time for further involvement, you can make good informed decisions.
- In May, we will send you a link to an online registration questionnaire, which you'll have through June 1st to complete. The questionnaire is your first opportunity to tell us what you want to study at Gonzaga. Most of your involvement in the scheduling process will revolve around this form.
- In June, we will assign you a Freshman Registration Advisor (FRA). Your FRA will create your class schedule for you, based on your high school transcript, standardized test scores, and information you provide in the Registration Questionnaire. Your FRA will be your go-to person for academic advising, registration information and questions through the end of August. Contact information for your FRA will be given to you in June. We encourage you to communicate as often as you need to with your FRA. We are all here to support you in any way possible.
- If you are undecided on a major, we want you to speak with your FRA in a scheduled appointment, which will take place over the summer months. You will be contacted by your FRA for further direction with regard to scheduling this appointment. We hope that this conversation with your FRA will allow you to explore your interests and relate these to possible majors at Gonzaga, which will in-turn help us determine your first semester schedule.
- Your schedule will be complete and released for viewing on August 1st. No incoming student will be able to view their schedule before August 1st because these schedules constantly change, as needs across the board shift.
- You will have an opportunity to work with your FRA to request changes to your schedule through the end of add/drop, on September 7th. To learn more about the Schedule Change process, including specific dates/times your FRA will be available, please click here.
To make the registration process as effective as possible, here are a few things we encourage you to do now:

- Pre-Law
- Pre-Health Sciences (i.e. Pre-Med, Pre-Dent, etc.)
- Teacher Certification - Please Note: Teacher certification is not a major. It is a series of courses taken in conjunction with a major to prepare you for teacher certification in the State of Washington.
Other Important Notes:
- You will not be selecting courses during this process; you will be telling us what you are interested in studying and we will create your schedule for you.
- Forward all official transcripts of college work to GU immediately AND when final grades are submitted; this lets us know what you are taking to avoid being placed in a duplicate course.
- Make sure AP/IB scores are sent to GU directly (we need an official transcript). "Official" means that the transcript or scores are sent to GU directly from the institution (i.e. College Board) where you took the exam. A copy from you is not official!
- Make sure we have an up-to-date, accurate e-mail account for you. Send updates (including your full name and date of birth) to froshregistration@gonzaga.edu.
Our Guarantee: Whether you've known since you were 8 you would be an Engineer, or the student that wants to figure out their passion after exploring different fields; the Valedictorian or Class Clown; the sports fan or all-star athlete - Everything you will be registered for will count towards your Gonzaga degree, and we'll do it in way that is both fair and efficient.
