Why Give to GU?

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS CRITICAL!
Thank you for making Gonzaga #1 in the West for annual alumni giving! "Gonzaga alumni, through their generosity, energy and commitment, have made this a better place than it was when they left, and have provided tremendous new opportunities for our students," said Gonzaga President Rev. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J. "Parents and friends of the University have helped to ensure Gonzaga will be a viable, vibrant community partner for many years to come."

The participation of giving, in particular from our alumni is a key component to the ratings U.S. News and World Report uses when ranking colleges and universities. Thank you for helping to achieve such an important goal and doing your part to move GU up in the rankings.

But it doesn't stop here. Your support is needed each year to secure Gonzaga's future. This year, Gonzaga's alumni participation goal is 30%. With your financial support, the University can continue to improve the quality of education for deserving and talented students who belong at Gonzaga. Your gift does make a difference in the lives of Gonzaga students. Show your pride and help Gonzaga's current students, our rankings, you can even consider it an investment in your diploma! Please consider making a gift today!

THE BOTTOM LINE. Students want to come to Gonzaga because of the quality education we offer. For most, it becomes reality only because of the financial aid we provide. Today's reality is that nine out of ten undergraduates receives financial aid from Gonzaga. Did you know that out of every dollar of tuition Gonzaga receives, 40 cents is returned to the students in the form of financial aid?

As you can imagine, every time tuition goes up, so does the need for financial aid. It's a seemingly endless cycle. But it doesn't have to be. The more support given by friends and alumni, the less reliant Gonzaga's operating budget is on tuition income.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN... to be less reliant on tuition income? Well, for starters, it means Gonzaga would be able to keep tuition increases in check. It means more aid would be available for students each year. It means the University could devote more resources to recruiting and retaining quality faculty, to creating new and enhancing existing programs that teach our students how to become men and women for others, to building and preserving essential academic and co-curricular facilities.

HERE'S OUR CHALLENGE. We are committed to improving the quality of a Gonzaga education, because students expect and deserve it. But in doing so, we are in danger of pricing that education beyond the reach of many young men and women who choose Gonzaga.

YOU ARE THE SOLUTION. With your financial support, the University can continue to improve the quality of education for deserving and talented students who belong at Gonzaga.
