Banner is Gonzaga University's Integrated Campus Information System. All Administrative and Academic record keeping is managed by our Banner system. These include Student Records (Admissions, Registration, et-al), Financial Aid Application and Award processing, Human Resource and Payroll information (both student and staff), Finance and Controllers Office functionality, and Alumni and Alumni Development efforts. Access to our Banner system requires authorization and training as provided by ITS and various other departments. Visit the Training website for a schedule of the available Banner training dates. Prospective Banner users and users requiring additional access are asked to sign up for training and have their supervisor fill out the appropriate "Request for ICIS Access" form.

Helpful Hints:

  • Reset your "Banner" password before it expires. You will receive a warning that your password is about to expire - please be warned - password complexity and more rigid password reset rules will be implemented in the very near future in an attempt to better secure our "Banner" information.
  • Use the "My Banner" selection from the General Menu to access any forms and processors that you may have included in your personal menu.
  • When you right-click on any blank/white space while in a "Banner" form, it will display a pop-up that shows the Rollback, Save, Exit, and Print actions, plus the "Options" list (otherwise accessed by clicking the "Options" menu icon at the top left-side of the form). A selection is provided to also add the current form to the "My Banner" menu.
  • While in a "Banner" form you can press the "f5-Direct Access" key. This key will bring up the "Direct Access" block; you can input the name of another "Banner" form or report/process and it will take you directly to that program allowing you to run one form or process then return to the original form upon exit.
  • Online "Context-sensitive" Help is available from most "Banner" forms. Select "Help > Online Help" from the main menu bar or click the "Online Help" button (?-question mark icon). Help pages describe the purpose of the Form, field specific descriptions, and other information.
  • Please know that "Banner" users may very well be your best resource. Several of our end-users have become experts in the navigation and use of the various "Banner" forms and functions.
  • Please contact our CSS (Client Support Services) staff if your PC/MAC is having issues with accessing "Banner" or using your web-browser.  Various JAVA versions exist on campus. Most of the current versions are appropriate for using "Banner" - The absolute leading edge may become an issue - but not all this time. We have very successful experiences accessing "Banner" using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla - Firefox, and even Safari on the Mac.

Please note:

Banner Downtimes and System Maintenance.

  • Our schedule includes time during the July timeframe for major upgrades to the "Banner" application software.
  • This downtime includes updates to "Banner" as well as "Zagweb".
  • Several subsystems are affected by this downtime. These would include any system that relies on real-time queries against our databases and processors that do a daily data extract for the purposes of populating other database systems. (e.g., StarRez, Blackboard, Envision, CampusCall, Martin Centre Fitness Gates, and CASHNet Customer data extracts, Nolijweb Document Management).
  • Dates and Times will be announced via email and "Morning Mail" as the downtime approaches.

Questions and concerns may be directed to Greg Francis, Director, Central Computing and Network Support Services, francis@its.gonzaga.edu, or call ext 6896.
