CometotheWater

Our Come to the Water Saturday Reflections series of "A Time for Every Season" was a success!

Shonna Bartlett began the series on February 28th with "A Time to Weep:" Lenten Reflections.  It was an afternoon of reflection and prayer to help us prepare for the Lenten Season.

A Time to Build Up was led by Jolie Hagan-Monasterio on March 21st.  Jolie who has a long connection with TMI, led our Saturday Reflection on March 21.  Jolie graduated from Gonzaga University with a Masters in Pastoral Ministry, and she also served as a sabbatical director at TMI for several years.  As a young adult, Jolie discovered her Jewish heritage and began to explore the roots of her Christian commitment.  She made to pilgrimages to Israel, and during her second trip, she 'sat at the feet' of many rabbis, including women rabbis, to absorb their wisdom.  During Passover (Pesach), the Seder meal is shared around Jewish family tables throughout the world.  Each family or community adapts the script for this meal, the Haggadah, to fit their own circumstances - the ages of their children, their particular needs or concerns, the world situation, and their own gifts and talents, including a wonderful gift of humor.  Jolie led us all in this sacred celebration using a "Women's Haggadah" that she found in Israel.  This gave our students an opportunity to learn more about Jewish history and prayer.  This powerful remembrance of the Exodus story brought a rich depth to the beginning of out Christian Lenten experience.  We concluded the Seder meal with our traditional soup and bread, rather than the typical large Seder meal.

Our final Saturday Reflection was led by Fr. Michael Woods, a Jesuit priest who teaches at Gonzaga University.  His Saturday reflection was "A Time to Sow."
