| Job Purpose |
| The director of marketing services is an experienced communications professional who directs the client services operations within the University’s central Marketing & Communications (Mar/Com) department and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The director is the primary contact with in-house clients and works with campus-wide leaders to conceptualize, create and enact integrated marketing strategies, campaigns and projects. The director provides strategic planning, marketing research, copy writing and editing, and project management expertise while engaging Mar/Com’s creative services, public relations and interactive/web resources as needed to complete client projects. |

| Essential Functions |
- Marketing Services
- Provide strategic leadership to clients by creating and implementing marketing strategies, campaigns and action plans that meet clients’ marketing and communications objectives.
- Proactively find and implement new and creative marketing solutions for clients.
- Make effective and dynamic presentations of proposed solutions to clients.
- Assist clients in obtaining and implementing appropriate analytics to guide desired outcomes.
- Assist clients in establishing marketing budgets.
- Write and edit copy for print and interactive mediums.
- Interface with printers and other vendors as necessary to effectively complete projects.
- Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients.
- Facilitate ongoing communication between clients and the Mar/Com project team.
- Maintain continuous knowledge of client project status to identify potential issues and/or opportunities related to the project.
- Understand Mar/Com’s capabilities and services and effectively communicate offerings to clients.
- Communicate client objectives and represent client interest to the Mar/Com project team.
- Work with the Mar/Com department to deploy the necessary resources to fulfill client projects.
- Prioritize client projects to balance department capacity and project due dates.
- Monitor and update the Mar/Com production schedule as it pertains to client projects.
- Ensure all Mar/Com work meets quality standards as identified by the client.
- Ensure work is delivered on time and on budget.
- Develop and implement effective client project processes.
- Facilitate client conflict resolution.
- Management, Supervision and Leadership
- Lead the department marketing team consisting of creative services (staff and student graphic designers) and client project managers. At present, this constitutes four direct reports – two senior graphic designers, student designer and marketing and public relations specialist.
- Provide regular status updates to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
- Perform work as requested/assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
- Support the Assistant Vice President in department management.

| Physical Demands |
|
The functions are usually performed sitting but may involve some amount of time standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, walking, carrying and reaching. Extensive wrist and hand movements related to computer keyboard work. Ability to be mobile campus wide for appropriate business needs.

| Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field.
- 5 years experience in marketing and communications role(s) that includes project management, strategy and implementation.
- 2 years experience managing and supervising others.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply concepts in marketing strategy, advertising, media and brand management.
- Experience creating and overseeing integrated marketing campaigns that include all forms of media ranging from print, to broadcast/video, to web communications and new media strategies.
- Project management experience with demonstrated successful results.
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the production of high-quality marketing materials for both print and interactive/web applications.
- Strong analytic skills and proven ability to integrate data into successful marketing objectives.
- High level of maturity and judgment.
- Seasoned presentation skills at high leadership levels.
- Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
