| Essential Functions |
- Open specialization, with preference given to candidates who can demonstrate ability to build a bridge between Latin American and Spanish literary traditions (trans-Atlantic studies, theater studies, poetry) or candidates with an interest in second language acquisition or pedagogy. Teaching load is three courses per semester.

| Required Qualifications |
- Ph D in Spanish or equivalent
- Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English
- Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level, including advanced Spanish language and composition, and content courses.
