| Job Purpose |
| The Department of Communication Arts at Gonzaga University invites applications for two full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor positions beginning fall 2010.
We seek applicants with interdisciplinary interests and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. Applicants should be prepared to show evidence of teaching effectiveness in lower and upper division undergraduate courses and provide evidence of their scholarly potential.

| Essential Functions |
- First Position: Successful applicants will have commitment to the research, teaching, and ethical practice of public relations as it relates to building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their stakeholders.
- • Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication or closely related discipline (ABD with strong completion plan considered); evidence of teaching effectiveness in lower and upper division undergraduate courses such as public speaking, introduction to PR, organizational communication, PR campaigns, writing for PR, and related courses that integrate theory and skills.
- Second Position: Successful applicants should have commitment to topics that examine the implications of technologically mediated communication to relationships, communities, classrooms, and other organizational and social contexts. Interests should fall at the intersection between two or more of the following areas: new communication technology, electronic-mediated communication, media convergence, information literacy, or related area
- • Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication or closely related discipline (ABD with strong completion plan considered); evidence of teaching effectiveness in lower and upper division courses such as public speaking and mass communication; demonstrated ability to create and teach communication technology courses that integrate theory and skill.

A complete application including a letter of interest, research statement, vita, unofficial transcripts, teaching portfolio (including teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, sample student evaluations, etc) and three letters of recommendation should be sent electronically to: hickmanc@gonzaga.edu.
