Fall Family Weekend 2009 Schedule of Events
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23
8:30a—6:30p FFW Registration Check-in (1898 Room)
Check in just inside the main entrance of College Hall, pick up your FFW packet filled with the list of everything going on throughout the campus, and enjoy coffee or tea and a cookie while you read the latest copy of The Gonzaga Bulletin.
9:00a—4:00p Class Visits for Parents
Join a regularly scheduled class and see faculty and students in action. The list of available classes can be found in your FFW packet.
10:00a—4:00p Jundt Art Center & Museum
Enjoy the screenprints of American artist Corita Kent in the Jundt Galleries.
3:00p Women's Soccer
The Bulldogs take on University of San Francisco on the soccer field west of The Martin Centre.
4:00p—6:00p Autumn Gala
You are cordially invited to a celebration in the East Lobby of McCarthey Athletic Center. Join this “kickoff” event and delight in the fruits of autumn in the Pacific Northwest. Revel in great music, fine wine or punch, and choice hors d’oeuvres in the company of GU community members, faculty and administrators. All family members welcome. (Dress is casual.)
4:00--8:00p Intramurals
Intramural games will be played on Mulligan Field, to the south of the COG Marketplace.
Dinner: Take Your Student Out! Treat your student at one of Spokane’s many fine restaurants.
7:30p Choir Concert
Come and enjoy the nationally-acclaimed Gonzaga University Choir as they present a concert in St. Aloysius Church with guest performer Rodell Rosel, a tenor who is debuting at the New York Metropolitan Opera this fall. Donations gratefully accepted.
7:30p “Pride and Prejudice"
Delight in intrigue, romance, and high spirits as we wonder why Elizabeth isn't seeing Mr. Darcy and what is keeping Jane from landing Mr. Bingley in this play adaptation of Jane Austen's famous novel directed by Gonzaga professor Brian Russo.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24
8:30a—4:30p Registration/Hospitality (1898 Rm)
8:00a--Midnight Club Sports
A full schedule of club sports will be included in your FFW folder when you arrive for the weekend. These events will take place on GU's Mulligan Field, south of the Marketplace.
9:00a—11:30a “Head of the Spokane”
GU crew teams compete in a home regatta on the Spokane River.
9:00a—12:00noon Topics of Special Interest
Studies Abroad: Presentation and Q&A session about available study-abroad programs, including Florence and Paris.
Cyber Security: Keeping your student (and the whole family) safe in today’s high-tech world.
GAMP: Trek Program: One-hour presentation and Q&A session for parents interested in having their student gainfully employed after graduation.
Academic Planning: 50-minute Q&A sessions for parents interested in helping students in the academic planning process. How many credits to take? What courses are required? Everything you ever wanted to know and more about academic life!
Faculty Demonstrations: Our gifted faculty offer 50-minute sessions to tantalize your curiosity and intellect. Philosophers at the movies, the magic of T.V., and building on the moon are just a few of the samplings offered.9:00a—12:00noon Li’l Bulldog Activities
Drop your little ones off for a variety of fun activities on campus. Children ages 3 to 10 are welcome to take part in games, crafts and snacks hosted by GU students. While your student snoozes, you are free to take part in faculty demonstrations or lectures.
9:00a—3:00p ROTC Cadet’s Field Training
Take a field trip with GU’s nationally recognized ROTC unit. Field lunch will be provided. Be sure to reserve transportation space as personal cars are not allowed. Open to cadet families.
Noon—4:00p Jundt Museum

12:30p—3:00p Greenbluff Apple Festival
Tour the foothills of Mt. Spokane for the annual Greenbluff Apple Festival with arts, crafts, food and music in one of Spokane’s beautiful surrounding farm areas. Transportation provided with reservations. Maps available for families using their own cars.
1:00p Women's Volleyball
Root for GU as they battle St. Mary's in The Martin Centre Gymnasium.
2:00p “Pride and Prejudice"
See Friday’s 7:30p theatrical offering.
2:30p—4:30p Jesuit Community Open House
The Jesuit Community welcomes you to their home for afternoon refreshments, conversation and a great view of the Spokane River!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25

10:00a—1:00p Class & Parents’ Crew BBQ
Crew parents join your student for Class Day races and BBQ.
10:30a—2:00p Brunch at the Marketplace
Join students for a hearty brunch before your trip home.
8:30a or 11:00a Sunday Mass
Families are welcome to attend Mass in St. Aloysius Church. Steve Kuder, S.J., Rector of the Jesuit Community and Associate Professor of Religious Studies, presiding.
