What is your favorite place on campus?
Difficult question. It has to be a tie between the University Chapel on the 3rd Floor of College Hall and the COG.
The Chapel is such an open and contemplative environment and it is always interesting to have a different Jesuit presiding over Mass each week. Plus, the lighting in the Chapel is awesome!
The COG has a special place in my heart as well. Eating meals with friends at the COG everyday never really gets old to me, plus the food is generally very well made and varied.
What about your favorite place in Spokane?
My favorite place in Spokane is definitely Riverfront Park. I love to go running in the park because the trail is so accessible from virtually anywhere on campus, but especially from where I have lived, in Coughlin and the Dussault Apartments. The trail loops around and through the park and has a nice view of the Spokane River all the while. It's especially nice when I am able to run on a particularly hot, sunny day and then jump into the river from the bridge by the Law School. As far as going downtown, I would definitely opt for walking through the park with friends rather than driving any day.
Which class and/or professor have you enjoyed the most so far?
My favorite class so far has been English 102: Intro to Literature with Professor Cooley. All of the poems and stories that we read for that class were pretty interesting and I loved the casual, yet engaged discussions that we had about the material.
Give us a fun fact about you:
I have a twin brother who also attends Gonzaga! His made is Eddie and he is a Civil Engineering major. So, if you say "Hey Luke!" and only get a half-hearted acknowledgement, chances are its Eddie and he may not know who you are. Sorry 'bout it.
What extra-curricular activity do you enjoy the most?
Hands down Intramural Volleyball. I think I could play volleyball all day, every day for my whole life and be perfectly content. I am also very excited to be going to Knoxville, Tennessee this year for Mission:Possible, which is a service-immersion trip over spring break. We will be doing construction projects as well as volunteering in a local community center.
Even though you haven't left Gonzaga yet, what is your favorite memory so far?
During the fall of my freshman year, I went on the GU Outdoors 3-day weekend backpacking trip. During the second day, we took a 9-mile day hike up to the highest point in the area, and it was an absolute torrential downpour. I am from the Seattle area, but I have never been as wet as I was that day. Needless to say, it felt incredible to drop into the steaming, natural hot springs at our campsite when we got back.
