Favorite place on campus:
During the day: The Rare Books Room at Foley Center Library
At night: McCarthey Athletic Center during a basketball game. It's all about the Kennel Club energy!
Latest attempt:
Holding back a giggle fit during a post-yoga meditation session!
Application advice:
Use the essay to further explain who you are, in a way that extends beyond your list of activities and other factual application information. We want to know the person behind the application. Also, this is a chance to demonstrate all that you have learned in your writing classes, such as "show-not-tell," running metaphors, organized structures, transitions, and the like.
When you visit Spokane, be sure to...:
take a walk on the Centennial Trail along the Spokane River, and through Riverfront Park.
In 30 words or less:
Take ownership over your education. Also be willing to take risks as you search for your life's passion.
Book I couldn't put down:
Fiction: A thousand Splendid Suns, by Khlaed Hosseini
Nonfiction: Savage Inequalities, by Jonathan Kozol and Freakonomics, by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner
Favorite college memory:
Studying abroad at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. I highly recommend that all students take the opportunity to study abroad in their junior year, even if only for one semester!
Advice during college search:
Be sure to visit as many schools as possible, during the academic year when students are on campus and in classes. The idea is to get as authentic an experience as possible, and a sense for whether or not a school is the right fit for you.
