The Gonzaga Student Employment Office serves students seeking part-time employment during the academic year and full-time employment during the summer. However, many other on-campus job opportunities are available regardless of financial need (for example with Sodexo food services and/or individual departments.
21. Does Gonzaga have core curriculum requirements for all students?
Yes. All students, regardless of their major, must complete the Core Curriculum. This consists of four philosophy classes, three religious studies classes, English composition, English literature, speech, and math. Students enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences may have additional Core requirements.
Students may spread out the Core over their four years at Gonzaga, but most take both English classes, speech and their first philosophy class during freshman year.
22. When do I declare a major? What if I don't know exactly what I want to study?
About 60% of entering Gonzaga students are undecided about their major field of study. Students normally have until the end of their sophomore year to declare a major. Many students change majors after they are enrolled. Some fields (like engineering and education) are less flexible than others. Students who are even slightly interested in engineering or education should start off taking courses in that field. It is much easier to transfer out of these majors than into the programs at a later time.
*Students planning on majoring in Nursing must apply for the four-year, direct-entry program as a part of the Application for Admission.
