Applications are still being considered on a rolling-admissions basis until the program is filled. Early application is encouraged.

Gonzaga-in-Florence, established in 1963, is a junior year, semester, or summer program administered by Gonzaga University, a fully accredited four year Jesuit institution.

Both Gonzaga University students and students from other schools are welcome to participate in the program.

The City of Florence was chosen because of its tradition as the intellectual and artistic center of both the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Florence was also the student home of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, patron saint of Gonzaga University. The ancient architecture, museums, monuments, and churches in Florence provide today's students with unique opportunities for understanding the forces which shaped European civilization.

Gonzaga-in-Florence is located in the heart of old Florence not far from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Housing (with maid service) and meals are provided for students in several hotels in the area within walking distance of the school.

The Gonzaga-in-Florence center includes a 10,000 volume library, a computer center, wireless internet, a music practice room, art studio, and a chapel.

New this year is the introduction of the Renaissance Certificate track to the Gonzaga-in-Florence year program. The Renaissance Certificate track is an integrated series of courses focused principally on the historical period that distinguishes Florence as one of the major cultural centers of the world. Students choose courses each semester from a pre-selected list and immerse themselves in the history, art, literature, and philosophy of the Florentine Renaissance, while relating developments in these disciplines to the political, social, religious, and cultural contexts of the period.  Upon successful completion of the full track, students receive a Gonzaga-in-Florence Renaissance Certificate.
