Again, congratulations on your acceptance to the Gonzaga-in-Florence program! As you prepare for your spring departure, this page will highlight some of the pre-departure information you will need to get ready for your time abroad. Begin your pre-departure process with the following two steps:

Step 1: Reserve your place on the program

In order to reserve your place on the program and to be eligible to register for spring classes, pay the $500 deposit that is due within two weeks after your acceptance. The deposit is applied to the program cost. Spring 2012 deposits are non-refundable after October 15, 2011. For deposit payment instructions, click here.

Step 2: Review the Passport and Italian Visa Information

All students studying abroad in Italy, regardless of term, are required to have a passport that is valid for six months after the end of the program. In addition, all students are required to have an Italian study visa, which is a stamp in your passport. Attend a mandatory Italian visa meeting. You will be informed by the GU Study Abroad office when and where to submit your visa application. Visa documents and instructions will be given to all students. Do not plan on using your passport 90 days before departure. Some Italian consulates will process your student visa in a few weeks and others can take up to 90 days.
