In addition, all students are required to have an Italian study visa, which is a stamp in your passport. You will be informed by the GU Study Abroad office when and where to submit your visa application. Visa documents and instructions will be given to all students. Do not plan on using your passport 90 days before departure. Some Italian consulates will process your student visa in a few weeks and other can take up to 90 days.

Once you reserve your place, you will receive a pre-departure orientation binder. The binder is given to Gonzaga students at their orientation meeting and is mailed to non-Gonzaga students. Parents will receive a program handbook. The pre-departure orientation binder will include various forms that  you will need to compete and submit to the GU Study Abroad office by the deadlines outlined on your checklist. Check out the orientation video that was taped for fall and year students.

H1N1 VACCINE INFORMATION FOR ITALY
At this time, the H1N1 vaccine is not available in Italy as a standalone dose; it is only available as a single shot that vaccinates against both H1N1 and the seasonal flu. The last week in September, students in Florence were given the opportunity to order and receive this vaccine, free of charge. Those who requested a vaccine were able to have it administered by our doctor beginning on October 20. The Florence campus is not able to obtain any additional vaccines at this time.

There have been many cases of the seasonal flu in Florence, and the doctor has treated students both at school and through house calls. The Florence staff continues to monitor the situation and assist in treating ill students as per the doctor's orders.
