The Program

Participants will study at the Universidad Internacional (UNINTER, Center for Bilingual Multicural Studies) in Cuernavaca, México. Students may register for any term of Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Spanish, or a Hispanic literature or culture class, depending on their competence level in Spanish (director will advise).  During the program students will complete a course of study equivalent to three credit hours for the three weeks session or six credit hours for the six weeks session.

The City

The city of Cuernavaca is located in a pleasant valley an hour and a half's drive south of the cultural richness and excitement of the capital, Mexico City.  Acapulco, Oaxaco, Puebla, and Taxco are also easy to reach from Cuernavaca.

The university town of Cuernavaca is a favorite vacation spot.  Permanent residents number about 250,000, which nearly doubles during vacation seasons.  Because of its lush and beautiful flora and an average temperature of 75 degrees, Cuernavaca is known as the "City of Eternal Spring."

The atmosphere tends to be that of a big town, rather than a big city.  There is little crime.  The people are very friendly.  Life is relaxed and easy going.  The Zócalo,  the main square, is alive with  sidewalk cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and shops.  Street musicians (Mariachis) play.  The outdoor markets will draw you back again and again!
