International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

ISIC

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) verifies your student status and is widely recognized throughout the world. There is also an International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) available. These cards provide benefits and services worldwide. More than an ID card, they also offer:

All ISIC/ITIC cards issued in the U.S. include basic travel accident insurance while traveling abroad. ISIC/ITIC insurance is the minimum recommended coverage for international travel. ISIC/ITIC benefits include:

  • Discount international and domestic flights 
  • Emergency medical transportation 
  • Repatriation of remains
  • Accidental death and dismemberment
  • Sickness/hospital benefits
  • Travel document and passport replacement
  • Baggage and travel delay

International Student ID Card (ISIC)

The ISIC is available for purchase for students attending a non-sponsored program, traveling independently, or students from area colleges and universities. Students must be age 12 or older and currently enrolled as a full-time degree seeking student at an accredited institution. Continuing education, language school, and non-degree seeking students are not eligible. The ISIC is valid one year from the date of issue.

Purchasers of the ISIC through GU Study Abroad need to follow the steps listed below:

  1. Complete application and return to GU Study Abroad with proof of student status (copy of current student ID card). Mail to: 502 E Boone Ave, AD 85, Spokane, WA 99258, or return in person to 323 E Boone Ave.
  2. Submit payment of $25.00 for card online via CASHNet
  3. If you are interested in the ISIC Premium Upgrade, please note that the Premium upgrade must be processed AT THE SAME TIME you submit your ISIC application. For more information on premium upgrade, click here.
  4. Upon receipt of application and payment, GU Study Abroad will electronically submit your information to ISIC. You will receive an email prompting you to upload a color head shot. Once photo is uploaded, you will receive your card via mail between 5 to 15 business days.

For those outside of the Spokane area, the ISIC is available for purchase through www.myisic.com.

Students participating with a Gonzaga Sponsored Program are automatically issued an ISIC card as part of program costs. This card will be valid for one year from the date of issue. Students receiving this card as part of their program will be given an application to complete and return to Gonzaga Study Abroad.

International Teacher ID Card (ITIC)

The ITIC is available for purchase for teachers and faculty from the GU community and area colleges and universities who are traveling independently. Full-time teachers or faculty teaching for the current academic year at an accredited institution are eligible for the ITIC. Teachers/faculty must be employed a minimum of 18 hours per week for a minimum of one academic year. The ITIC is valid one year from the date of issue.

Purchasers of the ITIC through GU Study Abroad need to follow the steps listed below:

  1. Complete application and return to GU Study Abroad with proof of teacher status (copy of current teacher ID card). Mail to: 502 E Boone Ave, AD 85, Spokane, WA 99258, or return in person to 323 E Boone Ave.

ISIC Premium Upgrade

The premium upgrade increases the amounts of coverage for the travel accident insurance, and includes a $2000 personal effect coverage benefit (ISIC Basic does not have this benefit). For more information on the premium insurance visit the ISIC website.

The cost of the upgrade is $50.00 and paid online via CASHNet. The Premium Upgrade must be processed AT THE SAME TIME you submit your ISIC application.
