What is an e-book?

An e-book is an electronic version of a printed book. E-books can be viewed online from any computer connected to the Internet. You can preview an e-book for 15 minutes for quick reference, or you can read them at your leisure. Foley Center e-books checkout for 24 hours.

How do you access our e-books?

Foley Center has purchased a core e-book collection of about 2500 e-books from netLibrary. netLibrary has one of the most comprehensive collections of e-books available. The netLibrary interface allows you to search for any word in a text, download the book, and use their reader software to make notes and highlight the material.

What is in our e-book collection?

The library has purchased a core collection of about 2,500 titles. These titles include works in Pacific Northwest History, current books on computing and programming languages and general reference works. Our students also have access to the Public Collection on netLibrary. The Public Collection contains public domain e-books that are free to everybody.

How do I use netLibrary?

There are two ways to access e-books at netLibrary. If you are using a PC on campus you can search or preview books as an anonymous user and no login is required. To check out an e-book you must first create a user account. A user account must be created by using an on campus computer. NetLibrary uses the campus ip address to validate users. Once that account is created, you can use your user account to log in from any computer with Internet access on or off campus.

How do I create a netLibrary account?

  1. Go to netLibrary
  2. Click Create and Account
  3. Enter your identifying information, including user name and email address
  4. Click Submit

Note: creating an account automatically logs you in to netLibrary
