Joseph Kinsella, Ph.D.

Assistant Academic Vice President, Center for Global Engagement

Dr. Kinsella has worked in international education since 1988, focusing his energies on the application of anthropological methodologies to intercultural and international learning. His doctoral research in anthropology explored the intersection of identity and aesthetics, and the processes of globalization that shape nationalist and “postcolonial” identities. Working with a group of contemporary sculptors in Zimbabwe between 1998 and 2004 Kinsella’s dissertation examined the production of material culture within neo-colonial economic and social structures. He has carried out fieldwork in Zimbabwe and Uganda, and as an undergraduate studied abroad in Florence, Italy.

As an applied anthropologist, Dr. Kinsella writes about the use of ethnographic methodology to understand and assess intercultural experiences. He worked and taught at DePaul University in Chicago for over 20 years, serving as the assistant director and later director of study abroad, and as the associate vice president of international programs before joining Gonzaga University.

Dr. Kinsella has designed and orchestrated programs in Botswana, China, Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Japan, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and Zimbabwe.

Dr. Kinsella will begin his tenure at Gonzaga University on March 1, 2013.

Ann Price

CGE Program Specialist, Center for Global Engagement

Ann graduated from Gonzaga University with a B.A. in History. Before working at Gonzaga, she had a 15 year career in banking. She lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for one year while attending school and caught the travel bug. Since then she has traveled to Canada, the Caribbean, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Greece and Malta. She has two daughters ages 22 & 25. In her spare time, Ann enjoys, gardening, hiking, the gym, playing piano, reading, and attending the Symphony and the theater. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, particularly at her favorite weekend destination, Priest Lake. She also loves Disneyland or anyplace that has great rollercoasters.

Amber McKenzie-O'Neill, M.A.

Director, International Student & Scholar Services

Amber has been working closely with international students both in the United States and abroad since 1994. She spent seven months in Brazil teaching English, and has also traveled throughout Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Amber graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Communication Studies and got her MA in Communication and Leadership Studies at Gonzaga. She is currently working on her MA in Teaching English as a Second Language. She enjoys meeting new people, spending time with friends, traveling, learning about other cultures and sampling ethnic food!

Harry Daniels-Schatz, M.S.

International Student Advisor, International Student & Scholar Services

Harry is a lifelong world traveler, and loves the melting pot of cultures and people that he comes into contact with. He is an avid outdoors person and lived in Alaska where exploring the great outdoors is part of the culture. He is a lifelong learner and continues to be amazed by the education of life around him. In the winter you will always find Harry on the slopes snowboarding and in the summer, he enjoys camping, riding his bicycle or his motorcycle. He loves sports and as a result, has acquired many injuries! He plays soccer, badminton, and tennis.

Sarah Alami

International Student & Scholar Coordinator/Immigration Advisor, International Student & Scholar Services

Sarah grew up in France in a bicultural family, and settled in Spokane in 2006. She graduated from Gonzaga University and has enjoyed guiding other international students through their new lives at this University. She is passionate about intercultural communication and academia. She will soon complete her Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language. Sarah also enjoys running and yoga, eating ethnic foods, and of course Gonzaga basketball! Feel free to contact her.

Richard Menard, M.A.

Director, Study Abroad

Richard’s particular areas of expertise in the field of Study Abroad include advising students in their applications for national study abroad scholarships, risk management, increasing administrative efficiency through the application of specialized study abroad software, re-designing administrative procedures and program management, and working with faculty on faculty-led programs. His approach to his work emphasizes cooperative interactions and rigorous academics. As he stated in his application letter, "A crucial component to success is building strong relationships with both faculty and administrators who are knowledgeable and appreciative of the academic strengths of study abroad." Richard has been recognized for his dedication to study abroad as an integral component of a university education, for his proactive style and effectiveness in working collaboratively with others to move projects forward. Richard earned a B.A. in History at Texas Tech University and an M.A. in International Relations in Belgium at the University of Kent's Brussels School of International Studies.

Donna Ryan, B.A. from Gonzaga University

Associate Director, Study Abroad

Taught in the Spokane Public School district and then was an at home mom for 15 years in which I did volunteer work while raising 5 children. I currently have 5 grandchildren. I have been working in study abroad since 1997. I enjoy spending time with the “grands” , traveling, reading and boating.

Kevin Rounsley

Program Coordinator, Study Abroad

Kevin is originally from Olympia, WA, and is excited to be back in the Northwest and now at Gonzaga!  He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his undergraduate degree in Social Sciences and is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching.  Prior to Gonzaga, Kevin worked as an academic advisor for 15 years at the University of Southern California and the Wharton School of Business at Penn. Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, movies, sports (especially baseball), and going to GU events.
