1 . When is the application deadline?^

Students must submit their application, application fee, and a $500 non-refundable deposit by March 31, 2011. Please contact ma-tesl@gonzaga.edufor more information.

2 . What airport should I fly into?^

From the United States you will fly into the Leon-Guanajuato (BJX) Mexico International Airport.  

3 . What day should I arrive?^

We recommend you arrive to Leon on June 4 or 5, 2011 (the course begins on Monday, June 6).  Please consider that international travel time can take between 7 to 12 hours depending on your flight.  

4 . What day should I depart from Leon?^

The course finishes on June 17, 2011.  An optional trip will be offered the last weekend of the course (please contact Dr. Mary Jeannot jeannot@gonzaga.edu for more information).  It is recommended to depart Leon on June 18 (if you decide to not do the trip), or June 20 if you do.

5 . What about accommodations and meals?^

TESOL in Mexico students have the following options when it comes to accommodation:
1. Dorm-style: Students can stay in dorm-style accommodation located near the Iberoamericana-Leon campus.  Meals are served on campus.
2.  Staying with a host family: Another option is staying with a host family.  Please contact the program for more information: ma-tesl@gonzaga.edu

6 . How about weekend activities and cultural excursions?^

On the weekend of June 11 – 12, student will visit the historical towns of Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende!

7 . Can I live with a host family?^

Yes, please see accommodation question above.

8 . How can I get from the airport to my accommodation?^

We will arrange an airport pickup for you on the day you arrive. 

9 . What can I expect in terms of workload?^

Your professors will set up a Blackboard site for these types of curriculum questions prior to your departure!  

10 . What does the program fee include?^

Program fee of $2725 includes: 

·         TESOL certificate

·         Three undergraduate or graduate credits for “Principles and Practice of Language Teaching”,

·         Spanish classes,

·         Host family accommodations

·         Most meals (except weekends), including a welcome dinner on the first day and a farewell dinner

·         Daily transportation to and from ESL classes,

·         Cultural excursions.

·         Airport pick-up/drop-off


Not included:

·       Airline tickets to and from Leon

11 . Do I need a passport?^

Yes, in order to travel outside of the US, you will need to get a passport.

12 . Do I need to be a Gonzaga student to enroll?^
