Course Requirements
Participants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
·         Daily attendance
·         Active participation in morning course (Italian and TEFL) and Language Camp. This is a hands-on course!
·         Completion of all reading homework assignments
·         Completion of assigned Task File assignments in textbook (Harmer)
·         Completion of a portfolio including:

þ    Homework Assignments (in notebook) You will reflect on some aspect of language learning or language teaching using your own experience and the readings as a guide. For the most part, these assignments will either be something that prepares you for the next day, or they are practical assignments that will have you absorb the experiences around you. The language practice assignments are intentionally left open because they will depend on what our Italian Lesson is.

þ    A Warm-Up instruction sheet In pairs, you will prepare a 10-minute warm up which you will present beginning Class 2. The instruction sheet for this should be turned in on the day of the warm up.  After your warm-up, you will make changes and resubmit it.  (All instruction sheets will be gathered together, photocopied, and handed out to all participants at the end of the course.) You should include your warm-up lesson plan in the portfolio as well as all Evaluation forms.

þ    Daily Glossary (handout) The course, course text and morning block include important terms in second language learning.  You will be assigned one term (e.g., SLA concept) on a daily basis.  You will present/learn these terms in a variety of ways.  Assessment TBA.

þ    Language Camp Assignments and Lesson Plans (from Have Text, Will Travel) Individuals or pairs will prepare a Lesson Plan to be presented the second week and used with gli estudienti.  Teams should include their lesson plan in the portfolio as well as all evaluation forms. Teams will also present this same Lesson (with revisions) to gli estudienti.

Those participants who would like graduate credit for the course must create a further curriculum unit (of 2+ days) expanding your Lesson Plan and including it in your portfolio.
